Abu Azmi backs Salman Khan, says Shiv Sena indulging in 'theatrics'

"I don't think Salman Khan said anything wrong, nor are his statements harming our sentiments," said Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi.

Extending support to Bollywood actor Salman Khan for his remarks on Pakistan artists, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi criticised Shiv Sena on Saturday for its 'frivolous theatrics', and said if the party is really bothered about national security, territorial integrity and sovereignty, it should talk with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I don't think Salman Khan said anything wrong, nor are his statements harming our sentiments. I would like to say to the Shiv Sena to talk with Narendra Modi. They are the allies of the government. It is their government which has issued visas to them (the Pakistani actors). I am unable to fathom their theatrics given the fact that the bus connecting India and Pakistan is still running, both the countries ambassadors haven't been called," Azmi told ANI.

Azmi further said that it is up to the government and the people to decide whether Pakistan artists remain in India or not and reminded the nation to treat guests with regard.

"It is up to the government and the people to decide whether Pakistan artists remain in India or not, but they are our guests, and our tradition doesn't allow us to behave in this manner. We should make the Pakistanis feel hospitable. We should welcome them with open arms. When we give them a good treatment, they will go back to their country and condemn the atrocities perpetrated by them (Pakistanis) on our soil. When Pakistanis say good things about our country, it will be that country which will be embarrassed," he said.

During a press conference Salman Khan said, "They (Pakistani actors) are artists, not terrorists. It's the government who gives them permits and visas."

Reacting to this, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Industries Minister and Subhash Desai advised Salman to take lessons on national pride from his father Salim Khan.

5 things which may disappoint viewers after watching MS Dhoni - The Untold Story

Well, we do not want to spoil it for you but there are some stories which you won’t get to see while watching it.

As expected, the biopic on MS Dhoni got excellent opening
After all the hype and hoopla surrounding one of nation’s most eagerly awaited movies this year, the biopic made on India’s most successful captain MS Dhoni finally hit theatres and as expected, fans loved it. The biopic — ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ was not full of much untold stories, which was expected but it was presented quite well and surely, actor Sushant Singh Rajput and director Neeraj Pandey did a commendable job. Despite all those good things about the movie, there were few unknown stories which fans wanted to be revealed through this film but that did not happen. Also, there were few flaws as well but overall, it’s a must watch movie for every cricket fan. Well, we do not want to spoil it for you but there are some stories which you won’t get to see while watching it and the below list is about that.

1. No show of his love towards Army

Trending Now

The movie began its story from the day Dhoni was born and throughout the film, there was nothing shown about his love for Army, about which he speaks a lot in media. Not to forget that Dhoni is also given the rank of Lt. Colonel by Indian Army. Dhoni is mostly seen using Army style designed bags and he has often said that he would have joined Army if he were not a cricketer.

2. Played safe by not revealing the dropping of three big Indian cricketers directly

Names of those three cricketers who were dropped from the India’s One-Day side before the Commonwealth Bank (CB) series in Australia were not revealed directly. During the meeting of Dhoni with board’s selection panel for the CB series, the former asked to drop three famous cricketers but names of them were muted when they spoke. After looking closely at the lip-sync, it came into notice that only two players’ names were said which was muted. Further, the name of the third player was disclosed when Dhoni switched on the news channel and media talking about his differences with that third player.

3. Nothing on how Dhoni became captain of India

In one scene, India side was shown disappointed after being out from the World Cup 2007 and after few scenes, Dhoni is seen representing the side in the final of ICC World T20 2007. There was nothing shown on how he became the captain of India in both T20Is and ODIs, which was very interesting.

4. Nothing on how Dhoni learnt to play shots on the off-side

In the first half of the movie, Dhoni was seen hitting maximum number of shots on the leg side. Most of the his shots were cross shots and he was also advised to start playing a bit through the off-side as well but there was nothing about how he learnt that. It’s a fact that Dhoni is a good player on the off-side as well and since the time he has been playing for India, he has played shots on the off-side quite often.

5. No other actors playing any cricketer’s part

Apart from Sushant (Dhoni) and Herry Tangri (Yuvraj Singh), no other actors were seen playing a role ofany cricketer in the entire movie. Before the movie was released, it was said that Fawad Khan will play the role of Virat Kohli, Ram Charan will be seen as Suresh Raina, Gautam Gulati as Zaheer Khan, Shreyas Talpade as Rohit Sharma but there was no such thing and it proved to be a rumour.

Aamir Khan screens Dangal full movie before trailer release

Aamir Khan's Dangal is months away from release, but the actor has already shown it to some of his closest friends in the industry. The superstar decided to hold a special screening on Shabana Azmi's 66th birthday, and the verdict is positive.

The premise may be similar, but when it comes to the storyline, Dangal isn't anything close to Sultan. While the Salman Khan-starrer dealt with its protagonist's internal conflicts and how he battles and at times embraces them, Dangal is about the struggle of an elderly wrestling coach to get his daughters to become champions in the sport.

Aamir Khan's cheeky look from "Secret Superstar' revealed [PHOTO]

"It is not a film about wrestling like Sultan. It's about a wrestler's efforts to train his daughters in wrestling. It's a heartwarming effort. At a time when cinema like Pink and Parched simply address the question of women's empowerment, Aamir's Dangal will show him to be a true champion of feminism," a source told BollywoodLife.

Shabana too couldn't stop praising the emotionally beautiful story of Dangal. She appreciated the performances and the story arc. "The gender politics are so relevant for the times and the unexpected climax will make even the most hardened heart cry. It is emotional without being sentimental. It's a hundred percent winner," Shabana added.

The trailer of Dangalis expected to be released around Diwali and will most likely be attached to the prints of Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the sports-drama film will arrive in theatres on December 23.

Will there be a war?

Two unconnected incidents -- the killing of the terrorist Burhan Wani by Indian forces in Kashmir, and the security lapse at an army camp in Uri -- have led to the India-Pakistan relations reaching their lowest point ever in peacetime.

Since both the incidents were avoidable, it is possible to speculate that if they hadn’t taken place, the two countries might have been able to talk to each other in the friendly spirit which was demonstrated by Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif in December last year when he told the visiting Indian PM, Narendra Modi, at his Lahore home: ab yahaan aana jaana laga rahega (now the comings and goings will continue).

The two PMs were then evidently in an affable mood which had earlier led to Nawaz Sharif’s presence at Modi’s swearing-in ceremony and which was palpable in the cosy manner in which they were pictured talking to each other in Paris during the climate summit. The excellent opportunity to normalize the mutual relations which these interactions provided has now been lost -- perhaps forever.

True, it will be naive to read too much into the earlier personal chemistry between Modi and Nawaz Sharif considering that the malign figure of another Sharif -- General Raheel -- of the Pakistan army has always been looming in the background, ready to scuttle any forward movement in India-Pakistan ties as after the Ufa talks in July last year. Only a few months later, the Pakistani terrorists attacked the Pathankot air base, evidently at the behest of the Pakistan army and the ISI.

Even then, it is obvious that if the earlier bonhomie between the two PMs could have been sustained, the possibility of a war would not have threatened the sub-continent. Now, the situation is on tenterhooks because in an atmosphere as tense and bitter as at present, the slightest miscalculations can light the fuse of a conflagration.

But, to return to the killing of Burhan Wani and the security failure in Uri, it can be argued that if the Hizbul Mujahideen “commander” had been captured and not killed, Kashmir would not have seen the kind of frenzied protests which followed the death of the “young leader”, in Nawaz Sharif’s view, of the Kashmiri intifada.

Pakistan, and especially its army and the ISI, could not resist taking advantage of the unrest in the Kashmir Valley by fishing in troubled waters with the help of the Hurriyat separatists. That meddling by Pakistan in India’s internal affairs led to Modi upping the ante by meddling back by raising the question of the Pakistani army’s atrocities in Balochistan.

It is also worth noting that if the deplorable security lapse had not taken place in Uri, where the Pakistani terrorists were able to cut through the wire fences and walk into the army camp to set fire to the tents in which the jawans were sleeping, public opinion in India would not have been inflamed by the deaths of 18 soldiers.

Not since the confrontation between the US and the former Soviet Union during the Cold War has the world faced the possibility of a war between two nuclear powers like India and Pakistan. Modi’s problem is that his party has always taunted the Congress governments for being too soft towards Pakistan. It will be difficult, therefore, for him to follow the line of “strategic restraint” of his predecessors when sections in the BJP like the maverick Subramanian Swamy have called for inflicting a “grievous hurt” on Pakistan and rabid organizations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad want an outright war.

The BJP’s ally, the Shiv Sena, too, has chipped in to ask, “when are we going to give an answer to Pakistan in their own language ?” The BJP’s supporters have always included a vocal group favouring an aerial attack on the terror camps in Pakistan. Reports suggest that this line has the support of the hawkish National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, and the army chief. The so-called surgical strikes by the Indian army across the LoC are patently in keeping with Doval’s and the army chief’s thinking.

India has carried out attacks by the infantry on the hideouts of the north-eastern insurgents in Myanmar. But Pakistan is a different proposition because it is known that a “short, swift, pulverizing” strike on the terror camps, as noted by a television commentator, carries the possibility of expanding into a nuclear war.

However, another commentator has blithely said that even if 500 million die in India during a nuclear war, 700 million will survive as Pakistan is wiped out. He prefaced his comments with Mao Zedong’s infamous observation that enough Chinese will survive a nuclear Armageddon to build socialism while capitalism will be extinguished.

Though it is unlikely that such nihilism will guide Modi’s policy, the chances of India and Pakistan returning to the negotiating table are bleak in view of the incensed public opinion in India.

Short of a prolonged war, therefore, India will have to devise ways to gets its own back after the Uri tragedy, which has been a hugely demoralizing blow. The “surgical strikes” were one of the ways. Of the others, a unilateral abrogation of the Indus Waters Treaty is now apparently high on India’s retaliatory agenda despite the possibility of earning international opprobrium.

Sunny Leone stalled 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain' shoot for she didn’t want to say this?

We told you quite a while back that Sunny Leone was coming on Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain and the show’s resident femme fatale, the lovely Angoori Bhabi has some competition. However, it seems when the adult star-turned-actress reached the sets of the show, she had an issue with something we associate with Angoori bhabi — her favourite line ‘sahi pakde hai’.

According to a Bollywoodlife report, Sunny refused to say the catchphrase as she thought the audience may not take it the way it was intended. Afraid of it being misconstrued as double entendre, Sunny put her foot down and the show’s shooting was stalled for almost one hour.

According to the report, a source said, “Sunny said the line could connote a different meaning altogether and demanded a change in the script. The creative team was at its wit’s end trying to convince her that it did not have any other meaning and that Angoori Bhabhi used it in the literal context: ‘You have caught it right.’”

It took a lot of effort to convince Sunny that the line is known to the show’s audience and they will not take it wrongly. She finally said yes and shot for the scene.

The actress will play herself on the show who is looking for her next hero. She zeroes in on Vibhuti (Aasif Sheikh) and hilarity ensues. This is no one-episode wonder either, Sunny will be seen for one whole week on the show. On the work front, Sunny will be seen in Beimaan Love.

Kashmiri press torn between covering surgical strikes and valley shutdown

Kashmiri on Friday reflected the dilemma of the average Kashmiri - to be concerned more about the possible fallout of the Indian Army's cross-LoC surgical strikes, or the continuance of the shutdown in the valley?

The strikes were the top story in every newspaper, and related developments from both India and Pakistan were duly reported.

However, fresh clashes, arrests and reports of the 83rd day of the shutdown were also covered.

There were no editorials and opinion pieces on the strike in most newspapers.

"Conducted surgical strikes across LoC: Army" was the top story in Greater Kashmir. The approach was reporting the facts straight up. Also reported, separately, was Pakistan rejecting India's claim of the strike, of Pakistan killing eight Indian soldiers and capturing one, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying support for Kashmiris will continue, India briefing envoys of 25 nations and J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's concern over the 'escalation on LoC'.

However, the local situation in the state was also duly reported, including reports of a 'complete shutdown' on 83rd consecutive day, four people sustaining injuries in clashes in Bandipora, and forces allegedly damaging apple harvest in a village in Pulwama.

"Army conducts 'surgical strikes' across LoC" was the main story in Rising Kashmir, with specific focus on putting surgical strikes within single quotes.

However, Pakistan's statements on the strikes were also covered prominently. "India's claim of surgical strikes fabrication of truth: Pakistan" said one report, while another report highlighted Sharif's statement that Pakistan was capable of defending itself.

The report on the shutdown in the state was a short one.

12% Muslim quota: Congress condemns TRS Govt for delaying BC Commission

Hyderabad: The Congress party on Thursday accused the TRS Government of deliberately delaying the constitution of Backward Classes Commission to provide promised 12% reservation to Muslims in education and jobs.

Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, in a media statement, said that the State Government on Wednesday extended the term of Sudhir Commission by another three months only to delay the BC Commission. “The Sudhir Commission was constituted on March 3, 2015 to study the socio-economic conditions of Muslims in the State. The Commission was given multiple extensions in its term and finally on August 12 this year, it submitted its report. Although the Sudhir Commission had no legal sanctity, it had accomplished the assigned task. After the submission of report to the government, its “Terms of Reference” are no longer valid. Since it was just a Commission of Enquiry, it doesn’t really matter whether the government accepts or rejects its recommendations as they are purely of academic interest and advisory in nature. In these circumstances, by extending the Commission’s term for another three months, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is just trying to buy time to delay the 12% Muslim quota,” he said.
Abdullah Sohail said that the TRS Government had so far wasted 27 months by taking shield behind Sudhir Commission. Since the government lost immunity after Sudhir Commission submitted its report, it extended its term as it was not serious on constituting BC Commission. “The government cannot increase the Muslim quota in jobs and education from present 4% to 12% without constituting a BC Commission. The Chief Minister is openly cheating the Muslims by resorting to various gimmicks,” he alleged.
The Congress leader also demanded that the State Government make the Sudhir Commission report public. He questioned the intentions of TRS Government in treating the Sudhir Commission Report as a secret document. The reports of Sachar Committee and Jagannath Mishra Commission were placed in public domain by the then Congress-led UPA Government. He feared that the TRS Government might tamper with the Sudhir Commission Report as KCR might be upset with the statistics of growth of Muslim community during the 10-year regime of Congress party from 2004-2014. He said that the Sudhir Commission report be made public without further delay or changes.
Abdullah Sohail warned that the Congress party would launch a mass agitation if the TRS Government delays the 12% Muslim reservation further.(NSS)

Neem plant shows hope for prostate cancer patients

Singapore: Oral administration of a compound derived from neem — a medicinal plant native to the Indian sub-continent — can significantly reduce the size of prostate tumour by up to 70 per cent as well as suppress its spread by half, a study led by an Indian-origin scientist has found.

Prostate cancer — the most commonly diagnosed cancers worldwide — occurs in a man’s prostate — a small walnut-shaped gland that produces seminal fluid. Current therapies available for metastatic prostate cancer are only marginally effective.

The study revealed that nimbolide — a bioactive terpenoid compound derived from neem plant — can significantly suppress cell invasion and migration of prostate cancer cells, suggesting its ability to reduce tumour metastasis or spread.

“The study demonstrated that nimbolide can inhibit tumour cell viability — a cellular process that directly affects the ability of a cell to proliferate, grow, divide, or repair damaged cell components — and induce programmed cell death in prostate cancer cells,” said Gautam Sethi, Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

The findings showed that oral administration of nimbolide for 12 weeks can reduce the size of prostate cancer tumour by as much as 70 per cent and decreased its spread by about 50 per cent, without exhibiting any adverse effects.

Nimbolide directly targets glutathione reductase — an enzyme which is responsible for maintaining the antioxidant system that regulates the STAT3 gene in the body.

This activation of the STAT3 gene has been reported to contribute to prostate tumour growth and metastasis, explained the researchers.

“We have found that nimbolide can substantially inhibit STAT3 activation and thereby abrogating the growth and metastasis of prostate tumour,” Sethi added.

The results of the study were published in the journal Antioxidants & Redox Signaling.

10 madarsas all set to go hi-tech, courtesy Zafar Sareshwala’s project

New Delhi: Madarsas have often faced criticism for not being in tune with the times. Things are changing and some madarsa students will now be imparted modern education through satellite linkage.

The proposal mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s close aide Zafar Sareshwala is expected to be implemented in nearly 10 madarsas across the country.

“It is being done on experimental basis. Madarsas students are trained only in religious scriptures. They have a high intellect but are unaware about mainstream education, which can get them jobs. We have taken an initiative and tied up with nearly 10 madarsas across the country. The offer is open to all madarsas,” Sareshwala told Catch.

The project involves tripartite agreement with Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad which has Sareshwala as its Chancellor,

Valuable group will be provide satellite linkage to the concerned madarsas. Presently three madarsas have been identified in Uttar Pradesh located in Pilibhit, Sambhal and Deoband. The other madarsas selected are in Delhi, Mumbai, Bihar and Gujarat.

Under the project, the students of these madarsas will be simultaneously connected through satellite to experts and teachers from Mumbai who will conduct the classes.

The infrastructure will be provided by Sareshwala himself.

“We will hire best teachers. We will bring these madarsas students at par with other students. They will be given special coaching for medical and engineering examinations. With our coaching, they can easily clear National Open School examination,” Sareshwala added.

The idea is said to have received an encouraging response from Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

“Jaitley was very patient in listening to us and encouraged us for the project. We all know that madarsa modernisation is the buzzword but nothing has happened. Rs 100 crore (that had been earmarked for it) is lying unused,” Sareshwala added.

Presently madarsas in India do not follow any standardised pattern. The curriculum in most madarsas depends on which sect or school of thought they belong to.

However, some states do have a madarsa board for recognising the degrees of these institutions. But interference is avoided.

Madarsas are also exempted from the Right to Education Act. “We end up creating religious experts who can only become Imams of mosques. Their education is not recognised by any board and hence they remain jobless. They need to open up towards modern education,” Sareshwala said.

Shahabuddin to go back to jail as SC cancels bail

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today set aside the Patna High Court order granting bail to controversial RJD leader Shahabuddin in a murder case.

The apex court ordered that either the gangster-turned- politician should surrender or Bihar Police should take him in custody “forthwith”.

A bench comprising Justice P C Ghose and Amitava Roy directed the state government and the lower court to ensure that the trial in the Rajiv Roshan murder case is concluded “expeditiously as contemplated under the law”.

Meanwhile, the court issued notice to Shahabuddin and Bihar government on another plea seeking cancellation of bail granted to him in a murder case of two brothers of Roshan.

Shahabuddin has been awarded life imprisonment in the twin murder case and the Patna High Court had granted him bail in this matter as well.

The apex court, which yesterday reserved its verdict on two appeals challenging the grant of bail to him by the Patna High Court, had rebuked Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, which has RJD as its coalition partner, for its lax approach in opposing the bail granted to the RJD strongman in various cases at different judicial forums including the High Court.

Bihar government, which had drawn flak from the court since the beginning of the hearing on appeals, was questioned yesterday for not providing a copy of the charge sheet to Shahabuddin for 17 months in the Roshan murder case.

Roshan, the eyewitness to the gruesome killings of two of his younger siblings, was also killed few days before his proposed testimony in the murder case of his brothers.

The bench had referred to the trial court records and said it cannot simply go by “inferences” drawn from various happenings in lower courts, as the order sheets revealed that police records were not provided to the accused.

Lawyer Prashant Bhushan, appearing for Siwan-based Chandrakeshwar Prasad who lost his three sons in two separate crimes, had vehemently opposed Shahabuddin’s contention that he was not provided the case records including charge sheet for 17 months after it was filed in the trial court.

Senior advocate Shekhar Naphade, appearing for Shahabuddin, had said there was concerted efforts to delay the trial and for that reason, the chargesheet was not provided to him.

Moreover, the prosecution did not have evidence to prove Shahabuddin’s involvement in the conspiracy to murder, he had said.

Senior advocate Dinesh Dwivedi, representing Bihar government, had said every factor should be taken into account and court should not “unleash this man to the society” as “liberty is not absolute” and only one eyewitness remained.

Shahabuddin, who was granted bail by the Patna High Court on September 7, was released from Bhagalpur Jail on September 10. He was in jail for 11 years in connection with dozens of cases against him.

On September 19, the apex court had sought a response from Shahabuddin on a separate plea filed by Siwan resident Chandrakeshwar Prasad, challenging the bail granted to him by Patna High Court, in the murder case of his third son.

The apex court is also hearing a separate plea filed by the widow of journalist Rajdev Ranjan, who was murdered in Siwan allegedly at the instance of Shahabuddin, seeking transfer of the case to Delhi.

Kalawati Devi, wife of Chandrakeshwar Prasad and the mother of three youths who were brutally killed by henchmen of the controversial politician, had also moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of bail granted to him in the case in which he has already been sentenced to life.

JUDGE HELD OVER RS.22-LAKH BRIBE IN DELHI

A senior civil judge, her husband and a lawyer were arrested here on Thursday on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 22 lakh from a person to settle a complaint in his favour.Searches conducted at the residence of the judge, Rachna Tiwari Lakhanpal, led to the recovery of Rs 94 lakh in cash, two locker keys and several documents.

Rachna, the senior civil judge (West) of Tis Hazari courts in Delhi, had appointed lawyer Vikas Mehal as the local commissioner for conducting an inspection of a disputed property and submitting a report. The lawyer is claimed to have demanded a bribe of Rs two lakh for himself and Rs 20 lakh for the judge for deciding the matter in the favour of complainant, CBI sources said.

As an initial payment, Rs five lakh was to be paid by the complainant. After the complainant approached the CBI, the investigators laid a trap.

The lawyer was caught red-handed while reportedly accepting Rs five lakh as bribe on behalf of the judge.“The advocate disclosed that the bribe amount was meant to be handed over to the said judge.

Subsequently, the bribe money was delivered by the advocate to the judge at her residence, out of which she kept Rs four lakh and gave Rs one lakh to the advocate,” a CBI statement said.

The bribe money of Rs five lakh was recovered by the CBI.

During investigation, the involvement of Rachna’s husband, Alok Lakhanpal, came to the fore and he was also arrested along with Mehal.Rachna was presented before Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal, who sent her to judicial custody till October 13, while her husband and the lawyer were sent to two-day CBI custody.

BREASTFEEDING MAY PROTECT MOMS FROM HEART, CANCER DISEASE: STUDY

Breastfeeding may not only be beneficial for babies, but also for their mothers - protecting them from premature death and serious diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease, a new study has claimed.Breastfeeding as recommended - for a total of one year and exclusively for six months - could protect babies and their moms from premature death and serious diseases, researchers said. The study underscores the importance of policies that make it possible for women to breastfeed, according to study senior author Alison Stuebe from the University of North Carolina in the US.Researchers said their findings highlight the importance of providing women with the support they need to breastfeed their babies, beginning at birth."Breastfeeding is far more beneficial in preventing disease and reducing costs than previously estimated," said lead author Melissa Bartick, assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in the US."The results should compel all hospitals to develop programs aimed at helping new mothers learn to breastfeed their babies," said Bartick.Researchers modelled two groups for the study.

The 'optimal group', in which the majority of mothers breastfed as recommended and the 'suboptimal group', in which mothers breastfed at current rates in the US, which are less than the recommended guidelines.Using existing research and government data, they projected the rates and costs of diseases that breastfeeding is known to reduce, along with the rates and costs of early deaths from those diseases.Children's diseases included in the evaluation were acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, ear infections, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, gastrointestinal infections, lower respiratory tract infections, obesity, necrotising enterocolitis and Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).For mothers, the study included breast cancer, pre-menopausal ovarian cancer, diabetes, hypertension and heart attacks. The researchers found that suboptimal breastfeeding was associated with more than 3,340 premature deaths in the US each year, costing the country 3 billion dollars in medical costs, 1.3 billion dollars in indirect costs and 14.2 billion dollars in costs related to premature deaths. The majority of the excess death and medical costs - nearly 80 per cent - were maternal."Breastfeeding has long been framed as a child health issue, however it is clearly a women's health issue as well," said Eleanor Bimla Schwarz from University of California, Davis, in the US."Breastfeeding helps prevent cancer, diabetes and heart disease, yet many women have no idea breastfeeding has any of these benefits," said Schwarz. The study appears in the journal Maternal & Child Nutrition.

IT IS HIGH TIME WE RESPOND TO TERRORISM: JOHN ABRAHAM

Hailing the "surgical strikes" by Indian Army on terror launch pads across the LoC, actor John Abraham today said it is time the country responds to terrorism."We are proud, we should have done this earlier.

I am talking about LoC.

It's high time we respond to terrorism.

As a country we are very tolerant and I think we should put our foot down and show what India can do," John told reporters here at the trailer launch of "Force 2".His co-star from the film, Sonakshi Sinha also echoed similar sentiments."Thank you that they took this big step.

Like John said, it is need of the hour.

I am happy it is happening.

We are all citizens of our country," she said. However, both the actors refused to comment on the MNS recently asking Pakistani artistes to leave India in wake of the Uri terror attack."We will talk about 'Force 2'," John said.Sonakshi, who apparently plays a journalist in her another upcoming film "Noor" based on Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz's novel 'Karachi, You're Killing Me', said, "We will talk about my next film later.

I don't want to comment on it right now, I am not playing a Pakistani reporter, the film is adapted from a book of a Pakistani author."On Pakistani actors usually refraining from condemning attacks on India and its soldiers, John said, "It is important (to see) what we do, we are not in a position to opinionate what others do and don't do.

We can speak for ourselves, Sonakshi can speak for what emotions she goes through and what emotion I go through.

We can solely give our opinion."I feel fortunate to be part of industry to promote and express our solidarity with our country and for the soldiers who are true heroes of this country," he said."We can speak for ourselves and stand up for our own people," the "Dabangg" actress added.Meanwhile, when actress Kangana Ranaut was asked about the MNS seeking ban on Pakistani actors, she said, "Right now we are very overwhelmed with the loss of our soldiers, our jawans and our sons.

So the country is not in that (frame of mind).

It's very hard to be objective right now."But we hope that the love and art prevails.

Right now we can't expect people to be objective.

It's such a big loss," the "Queen" actress said on sidelines of MAMI film festival.Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who was present at the Jagran Film Festival, refused to comment on the issues.

Price, Specifications, and Features: Your Guide to Buying the Perfect Laptop

Laptops come in all shapes and sizes these days, and no matter your budget, there are always going to be loads of options to choose from. We're here to guide you through the buying process so you can narrow down your selection and choose the best one for your needs.

Please note that this is not a buying guide that lists the best picks. This is more of a tool to help you figure out what is important and what is secondary, so that you will face less difficulty when you're looking at different models. This article only lays out the general guidelines that everyone should keep in mind when looking at laptops, and is not meant as a definitive list of specifications.

Price
First of all, you need to know how much you're willing to spend. You can easily splash out well over a lakh if you want to go high-end, but the good news is that the starting price is just Rs. 10,000 to 15,000 now. Models such as those available from RDP, iBall, and Micromax all offer very basic hardware, but that's still fine if all you're doing is surfing the Web, sending emails and typing reports for school or work. These laptops even include Windows 10, so they're much more versatile than Android tablets.

Going further up the price scale, you'll get laptops with more powerful processors, more and faster storage, better graphics capabilities, better screens, and more stylish bodies. Most mainstream laptops cost Rs. 25,000 and above. You'll also get hybrid 2-in-1s with touchscreens, which can be used as tablets.

You'll start seeing luxuries at around the Rs. 45,000 mark. Laptops above this price level are generally outfitted to last longer and be more versatile. You can have better screens, slicker bodies, and more of everything that makes a laptop faster. If you need a machine that can handle modern 3D games or run extremely demanding professional software, you should ideally budget at least Rs. 60,000. Those that cost above Rs. 1,00,000 are generally either extremely powerful gaming laptops, or super-slim style statements.

Specifications
You should get the most powerful CPU your budget allows. Intel pretty much owns the laptop space, though there are a few low-end AMD offerings. Nearly all budget-friendly options will use Atom, Celeron and Pentium CPUs, which are fine for basic usage involving Web browsing and working with Office documents. If you have the money to spend, go for at least a Core i3, or preferably a Core i5 or i7, which will help with multitasking and heavy apps, especially if you need to work with heavier software or do things like edit photos and videos.
